SAUGERTIES, New York, Sept. 22, 2017–P.J. Rizvi and Breaking Dawn won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday for the pair’s second victory this year.
P.J. of Greenwich, Connecticut scored 70.180 per cent for the win. The pair’s previous victory was in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special in Wellington, Florida in March before the rider’s first European tour with mostly top three placings.
Ashley Holzer of New York placed second on Havanna with a personal best score of 70.140 per cent in only the ninth start for the duo that began their Big Tour partnership five months ago.
The 10-year-old Hanoverian mare was bought by Diane Fellows nine months ago as a World Games prospect for Ashley, who now rides for the United States after a career in which competed in four Olympics for Canada including riding Breaking Dawn at the 2012 London Games.
Canada’s Brittany Fraser and All In were third on 69.440 per cent. Britanny and P.J. Rizvi are coached by Ashley.
