CAPPELN, Germany, July 15, 2017–Helen Langehanenberg rode the nine-year-old Suppenkasper to victory in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday to log the fourth win in their four starts at Big Tour which the pair began two months ago.
Helen and the KWPN gelding scored 75.975 per cent for the win in their first CDI musical performance, a day after capturing the Grand Prix. The pair made their Big Tour debut with two wins in Compiègne, France in May.
Helen is the former world No. 1 on Damon Hill NRW that she rode for Germany at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, won the 2013 World Cup Final and was on the gold medal team at the 2014 World Games that also was the last competition for the partnership. Helen returned to top sport in April 2016, first with Damsey FRH and then Suppenkasper.
Kathleen Raine of Murietta, California on the 17-year-old mare Breanna scored 73.050 per cent for second place as they did in the Grand Prix when they matched the best European finish for the pair that was at this same show in 2014.
Norway’s Isabel Freese on Bordeaux was third on 72.425 per cent.
The USA’s Dawn White-O’Connor on Legolas recovered from a shaky Grand Prix to score 70.900 per cent fifth place in the Freestyle.
