Foreign Affair, the seven-year-old KWPN stallion that won the inaugural 2017 Nürnberger Burg-Pokal event, has been sold by Swedish Olympian Patrik Kittel to the Rothenberger family.
The Rothenbergers reported after the sale that Foreign Affair will be stabled next to Cosmo, the KWPN gelding that Sönke Rothenberger rode on Germany’s gold medal team at the 2016 Olympics.
Malin Nilsson, based in Germany with Patrik, qualified Foreign Affair (Rock Forever x Scandic) for the Burg-Pokal final of seven to nine year old horses in the German small tour championship at the end of the year.
Filur, as the horse is called, was with Patrik for two years and in addition to the small tour victory had won the five and six-year-old Scandinavian championships. The sale was concluded a day after the horse’s birthday.
The Rothenberger family said in a statement that they had partnered with Marga, Ralph and Jan Greve in the acquisition.
The family did not say which of their children would ride Foreign Affair–Sanneke, 24 years old, Sönke, 22 years old, or Semmieke, 17 years old.
