MÁRIAKÁLNOK, Hungary, April 30, 2017–Spanish Olympian Morgan Barbançon logged her first victory on Sir Donnerhall II Old in claiming the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, only the second Big Tour musical performance for the pair.

Morgan and the 11-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 73.000 per cent for the win that earned the pair 20 points to take back to the Western European League in which she competed in seeking to qualify for the World Cup Final in Paris next April.

The 24-year-old rider last competed Sir Donnerhall (Sandro Hit x Donnerhall) in December and their only previous Big Tour freestyle.

Morgan began competing the stallion at small tour 2 1/2 years ago and moved up to Grand Prix in July last year. As a six-year-old, Sir Donnerhall had been ridden by Denmark’s Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard to third place in the 2012 World Young Horse Championships.

Germany’s Benjamin Werndl on Der Hit that had won the Grand Prix Saturday, placed second on 72.200 per cent with Portugal’s Boaventura on Sai Baba Plus third on 70.775 per cent.
