MÁRIAKÁLNOK, Hungary, April 28, 2017–Spain’s Morgan Barbançon rode Girasol to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday, the first Grand Prix win in the 18-month partnership.
Morgan and the 16-year-old German Sport Horse mare scored 69.980 per cent for the win. Since taking over the ride from Germany’s Nadine Capellmann in late 2015, the Spanish Olympic rider and Girasol have posted two victories at Freestyle, but not previously at Grand Prix.
Austria’s Renate Voglsang filled both second and third places, on Fratello with a score of 68.680 per cent and on Royal Happiness OLD with 68.080 per cent.
