WELLINGTON, Florida, Mar. 22, 2017–Salvino was ridden by Adrienne Lyle in the 10-year-old stallion’s first Big Tour competition, the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDI3* Grand Prix Wednesday.

The ride for 69.600 per cent and third place was “exactly what” Adrienne hoped for in the first CDI Big Tour two years after the Hanoverian stallion was found in Spain by a syndicate of Americans looking for a prospective team horse.

The competition also marked the first Bg Tour ride in 2 1/2 years for the 32-year-old Adrienne of Ketchum, Idaho. The last time was on Wizard at the 2014 World Games in Normandy following the 2012 Olympics in London.

Video of the ride is here.

Shelly Francis of Loxahatchee, Florida on Danilo was the winner on 72.160 per cent with the Dominican Republic’s Yvonne Losos de Muñiz on Aquamarin that she started competing in Europe six months ago was second on a personal best score of 70.120 per cent.

With the World Games in Tryon, North Carolina in 18 months time as the first goal, Adrienne and her coach, Debbie McDonald, have not pushed Salvino (Sandro Hit x Donnerhall). He competed only in warmup national shows before Wednesday.

“I was really happy with him,” Adrienne said after the ride. “It was exactly what I was hoping he would be like when we went in. We’re not pushing for maximum power yet.

“He will have incredible power and dynamics. He’s going to have incredible passage and piaffe; strength and confidence are what we’re looking to build up. What he was offering today I was happy with. He’s a stallion, but he didn’t get distracted, he wasn’t looking around.

Next up most likely is the CDI3* in a month’s time at Tryon, the 2018 World Games venue 10 hours’ drive north of Wellington.

She is also hoping to receive a grant to go to Europe for up to two months this summer.

“Our goal for next season is to be stronger and more confident, to go step-by-step and for Salvino to stay happy and healthy.”
