WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 17, 2017–Ashley Holzer, a four-time Olympian for Canada, debuted Sir Carmello to win the Grand Prix at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival national show Friday.
Ashley and the 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 68.900 per cent in the horse’s first competition since three Intermediate 2 U.S. national rides a year ago.
The horse is owned by P.J. Rizvi of Peacock Ridge in Greenwich, Connecticut. She also owned Breaking Dawn that Ashley rode for Canada at the 2012 Olympics.
This is a so-called off-year for the Americas with only the World Cup Final in Omaha, Nebraska at the end of next month as an international championship.
However, the World Equestrian Games will be held in Tryon, North Carolina with Brittany Fraser on All In, one of Ashley’s students, aiming for a start for Canada.
