AUGUSTÓWEK, Poland, Sept. 4, 2016–Morgan Barbançon posted a personal best score on Girasol to win the Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, the first World Cup victory for Spain’s Olympic rider on the mare.
Morgan and the 15-year-old German Sport Horse mare that she took over competing from Germany’s Nadine Capellmann a year ago scored 75.350 per cent to surpass the pair’s previous best of 73.550 per cent set at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands in February.
The 24-year-old 2012 Olympic rider posted the first win on Girasol seven weeks ago that was the 15th start for the pair and placed second in the Grand Prix here on Saturday.
She gets to take the maximum of 20 points won here back to her World Cup Western European League which next month begins its lineup of nine indoor events leading to the Final in Omaha, Nebraska next March.
Denmark’s Malene Ebbesen on Mira was the runner-up on 73.650 per cent in the Freestyle with the Ukraine’s Inna Logutenkova on Hetman Sahaydachniy third on 72.575 per cent.
