BROHOLM, Denmark, June 19, 2016–Cathrine Dufour and Atterupgaards Cassidy swept the Danish Championships when the pair won the Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday and likely send the pair to their first Olympic Games.

Cathrine and the 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding were awarded 83.900 per cent in the Freestyle after winning both the Grand Prix and the Special and thus claim their first senior national title. The duo were European Junior Championship medalists in 2010 and swept the top places in two of the three successive contintinental Young Rider championships.

Anna Kasprzak on Donnperignon, the most successful Danish combination for the past four years, were reserve champions with 81.000 per cent in the Freestyle.

Agnete Kirk Thinggaard on Jojo AZ placed third on 75.200 per cent, Daniel Bachmann Andersen on Blue Hors Hotline was fourth on 74.325 per cent and Rikke Svane on Finkenstein TSF fifth on 74.025 per cent.

The Wellington, Florida-based Mikala Gundersen on My Lady were sixth on 73.159 per cent.

Rankings for the championships, decided by adding the scores of the three competitions, were: 1. Cathrine Dufour/Atterupgaards Cassidy; 2. Anna Kasprzak/Donnperignon; 3. Agnete Kirk Thinggaard/Jojo AZ; 4. Daniel Bachmann Andersen/Blue Hors Hotline; 5. Rikke Svane/Finkenstein TSF; 6. Mai Tofte Olesen/Rustique; 7. Mikala Gundersen/My Lady.

Denmark will send a squad of riders to the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany next month and on June 16 announce the team of four combinations for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.
