BROHOLM, Denmark, June 18, 2016–Cathrine Dufour and Atterupgaards Cassidy won the Danish Championship Grand Prix Special Saturday for the second straight victory in their quest for their first senior national title and to set the pair on the path to a berth on the nation’s Olympic team.
Cathrine and the 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding scored 79.686 per cent for the win a day after the 24-year-old rider and her partner took the Grand Prix. The pair were European Championship Junior medalists in 2010 and swept the top places in two of the three successive contintinental Young Rider championships.
Anna Kasprzak on Donnperignon that has been the most successful Danish duo for the past four years was awarded 78.157 per cent for the same order of finish as the Grand Prix with the Grand Prix Freestyle to be held Sunday.
“Cassidy has never been better than he was today,” Cathrine said after the ride.
On Sunday she will perform a new Freestyle for the first time.
Mai Tofte Oleson on Rustique was fourth on Rustique with 72,255 per cent and Anders Dahl on the American-bred Selten HW was fifth on 71.608 per cent.
The Wellington, Florida-based Mikala Gundersen on My Lady were 10th on 70.204 per cent.
Denmark will send a team of four combinations to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.
