BALVE, Germany, June 5, 2016–The German Olympic Equestrian Committee on Saturday named the long list for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August. The list of eight combinations in alphabetical order:

Anabel Balkenhol, 44 years old, and Dablino FRH, 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding (De Niro x Wanderbursch II) owner by Klaus & Judith Balkenhol

Career highlights: combination-World Equestrian Games team bronze Lexington, Kentucky 2010; Olympic Games, London, 2012.

Kristina Bröring-Sprehe, 29 years old, and Desperados FRH, 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion (De Niro x Wolkenstein II) owned by Gestüt Sprehe GmbH; Paul & Albert Sprehe.

Career highlights: combination-Olympic Games team silver London 2012; World Equestrian Games team gold, individual bronze Normandy, France 2014; European Championships team gold Herning, Denmark 2013; team bronze, individual, Freestyle silver Aachen, Germany 2015.

Fabienne Lütkemeier, 26 years old, and D’Agostino FRH, 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding (De Niro x Shogun xx), owned by Gina Capellmann-Lütkemeier.

Career highlights: combination-European Young Rider Championships team, individual gold, Kronberg, Germany 2010; European Championships team gold Herning, Denmark 2013; World Equestrian Games team gold Normandy, France 2014.

Sönke Rothenberger, 21 years old, and Cosmo, nine-year-old KWPN gelding (Van Gogh x Landjonker) owned by Rothenberger im Gestüt Erlenhof OHG.

Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD, 11-year-old Oldenburg mare (Don Schufro x Sandro Hit) owned by Christine Arns-Krogmann.

Kristina and Desperados, Sönke and Cosmo, Dorothee and Showtime and Isabell and Weihegold were also named to the Nations Cup team at the CHIO in Aachen, Germany next month as the final event to decide on the four horses and riders to go to the Olympics

The team of four riders and horses plus reserves to go to the Olympics will be named at the World Equestrian Festival CHIO in Aachen, Germany July 13-17.
