CALGARY, Aberta, June 3, 2016–Karen Pavicic and Don Daiquiri won the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday but the score was not enough to move up the rankings to earn one of Canada’s two places at the summer Olympics.

Karen and the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding were awarded 68.720 per cent that was not enough to move them up from fourth place on Canada’s Olympic rankings with exactly a month to the qualifying deadline.

A mistake in the first piaffe proved costly for the pair that were on Canada’s team at the World Games in Normandy in 2014.

Joni Lynn Peters on Travolta placed second on 66.720 per cent with Lindsey Stroh on Lancelot third on 65.620 per cent.

Belinda Trussell on Anton is the clear leader in the Canadian rankings with Megan Lane on Caravella second and Chris von Martels on Divertimento third.

Two more CDIs are on the North American calendar before the July 3 deadline and both are in Canada–Langley, British Columbia June 9-12 and at Cedar Valley, Ontario June 17-19.
