ACHLEITEN, Austria, June 3, 2016–Ireland’s Judy Reynolds rode Vancouver K to a personal best score to win the CDI4* Grand Prix Friday just two months before the pair are expected to start in their first Olympics. Victoria Max-Theurer, looking to go to her fourth Olympics, was second on Blind Date that she plans to take to Rio de Janeiro.
Judy and the 14 year-old KWPN gelding scored 75.240 per cent for the win and eclipsed their previous best of 74.320 per cent set in March this year.
Judy, who celebrates her 35th birthday next week, competed Vancouver at the 2014 World Games, the 2015 European Championships and the World Cup Final earlier this year.
The second place on 74.700 per cent for Vici and Blind Date ended the string of victories at her home show at three. The pair made their debut at this show in 2012 and claimed the title in the next three years.
The 30-year-old Vici is looking to take Blind Date to the rider’s fourth Olympics, having ridden in the 2004 Games in Athens, 2008 at Hong Kong and 2012 in London.
Great Britain’s Emile Faurie on Weekend Fun placed third on 71.240 per cent in only the second CDI Grand Prix for the 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding. The pair made their Big Tour debut at Hagen, Germany six weeks ago.
Vici and Della Cavalleria OLD won the Grand Prix to qualify for the Freestyle with a score of 70.620 per cent with fellow Austrians Astrid Neumayer on Rodriguez second on 70.020 per cent and Belinda Weinbauer on Don Walesko third on 69.740 per cent.
