DEL MAR, California, May 1, 2016–Steffen Peters and Rosamunde won the World Cup Grand Prix Special Sunday to wrap up their final American competition before heading to Europe with both Legolas and the nine-year-old mare to prepare for the Olympics in three months.
Steffen of San Diego, California and the Rhinelander mare ranked 17th in the world, scored 76.510 per cent for Sunday’s win. On Legolas, the 14-year-old Westfalen gelding on which he is ranked No. 8 in the world, he won both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle at this event. Steffen and Rosamunde are ranked second on the U.S. Olympic rankings behind Laura Graves on Verdades and third on Legolas.
Günter Seidel of Cardiff, California on Zero Gravity, was second in the Special on 72.451 per cent after posting a personal best score for runner-up in the Grand Prix, .
Kimberly McGrath of Redlands, California on Winslow was third on 68.255 per cent.
The California-based Australian Emma Weinert-O’Rourke on Velvet WD posted a personal best 68.157 per cent for fourth place in their third CDI competition, the first event two months ago.
