SYDNEY, April 7, 2016–John Thompson and his 2016 New Zealand Horse of the Year JHT Antonello won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Friday for the sixth win in 10 starts this year in their campaign to qualify for the single start for the nation at this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
John, the only foreign rider in the Big Tour at Australia’s premier CDI, and the 14-year-old New Zealand-bred Hanoverian gelding scored 67.90 per cent for the win.
Sue Hearn on Remmington, winner of the Grand Prix, placed second on 67.63 per cent and Judith Dierks on Diamond Star third on 67.53 per cent.
So far this year, John and Antonello competed in the two CDI3* events in New Zealand and this is the second event in Australia.
