WERRIBEE, Australia, Mar. 18, 2016–John Thompson fresh from his New Zealand Championship on JHT Antonello won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday, staged for the 2017 championship Final even before the 2016 Final has been held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
John and the New Zealand-bred 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 70.200 per cent for the win two weeks after claiming the New Zealand title.
Mary Hanna placed second on Boogie Woogie on 68.420 per cent in her last competition before heading to Sweden to represent Australia on Umbro at the World Cup Final. Mary earned the single spot for Gothenburg by taking the Pacific League Final earlier this year.
Sue Hearn on Remmington was third on 66.820 per cent.
