Günter Seidel on Zero Gravity and Charlotte Jorst on Kastel’s Nintendo were confirmed Monday as the two United States combinations to compete at the World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, Mar. 23-27.
The U.S. Equestrian Federation named the two North American pairs ranked highest after Steffen Peters and Legolas and Laura Graves on Verdades opted to remain focused on preparing with the American team prospects for the summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Steffen of San Diego, California ended the 2015/16 season at the top of the North American League standings that are decided by the average of the two best World Cup qualifying Grand Prix Freestyle scores.
Florida-based Danish team riders Mikala Gundersen on My Lady and Lars Petersen on Mariett placed second and third, respectively, but do not ride for a North American nation. They can be invited as an “extra” starting place, though Mikala has announced her intention not to go to Sweden.
Günter Seidel of Cardiff, California was ranked fourth with Zero Gravity, a 12-year-old KWPN gelding, while Charlotte of Reno, Nevada with Nintendo, a 13-year-old KWPN stallion, was ranked sixth behind Laura and Verdades.
