DORTMUND, Germany, Mar. 4, 2016–World No. 1 Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Desperados claimed the CDI5* Grand Prix Friday with a score above 80 per cent for the fourth time in the past year for the German Olympic and world and European championship medal-winning pair.

Kristina and Desperados, a 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion, looking to go to their second Olympics for Germany were awarded 80.880 per cent in the first competition since the European Championships at Aachen, Germany last summer where she placed second individually behind Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro.

Fellow Germans Isabell Werth on Emilio placed second on 75.120 per cent in their third Big Tour show while Dorothee Schneider on Showtime placed third on 73.600 per cent.

The score for Kristina and Desperados was below the 82,240 awarded the Russian pair of Inessa Merkuova and Mister X in Moscow last week that has ignited a controversy over the qualifying procedures and judging,
