Laura Graves has been awarded the William C. Steinkraus Trophy by the U.S. Equestrian Federation to honor an equestrian competing in the Olympic discipline of dressage.
Laura of Plymouth, Florida received the award for the first time for achievements in 2015 on her Verdades that included her first U.S. Grand Prix Championships, Pan American Games team gold and individual silver medals and performing in her first World Cup Final.
The 28-year-old rider also won six consecutive CDI classes at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida including team and individual gold medals at the CDIO3* Nations Cup and ended the year ranked 15th in the world with Verdades.
The award was also presented to McLain Ward, the jumper rider of Brewster, New York, for the second time. His achievements in 2015 included his first championship individual gold medal that he won at the Pan Ams along with team bronze and a string of victories at major events in North America and Europe.
The late Lloyd Landkamer, organizer of dressage championships and numerous horse shows around the country including the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, was one of four individuals awarded The Richard E. McDevitt Award of Merit.
