MOSCOW, Sept. 5, 2015–Inessa Merkulova rode her Russian-bred Mister X to victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Saturday leading a Russian sweep of the top three places and beginning her campaign for a start in her third Final of the annual individual championship.

Inessa and the 11-year-old Trakehner gelding scored 73.380 per cent with Marina Aframeeve on Vosk, also owned by Inessa Merkulova, runnerup on 71.900 per cent.

The top two combinations were on the Russian team that placed seventh at the European Championships in Germany last month.

Polina Afanasieva on Laetare was third on 67.400 per cent.

Polina on Winston won the CDI3* Grand Prix with a score of 67.040 per cent.

The Freestyle that will count for qualifying points for the World Cup Final through the Central European League is scheduled for Sunday.
