LEXINGTON, Kentucky, July 15, 2015–The United States’ Region 7 team made of four Californians won the North American Young Rider Championship Wednesday while Canada’s Ontario team took the Junior title.
The victory was the third straight for Region 7 in the annual championship at the Kentucky Horse Park. Region 3 of the Southeast United States took silver and Canada’s Alberta/British Columbia the bronze.
The Region 7 gold medal team total of 199.658 from all Californians: Catherine Chamberlain, 20, of Murrieta and Avesto Van Weltevreden 67.395%; Lindsey Brewin, 17, of San Ramon and Vaillant 66.395%; Cassidy Gallman, 20, Poway and Grand Makana 66.053% and Samantha Jenney, 19, of Gilroy and Domino 64.158%.
The Region 3 silver medal team on 199.369 comprised: Natalie Pai, 18, Wellington, Florida and Fritz San Tino 69.184%; Mallory Kent, 17, Birmingham, Alabama and Okidokie 62.632%; Lindsey Holleger, 19, Tallahassee, Florida and Friedensfurst 67.553% and Rebecca Roman, 20, also of Birmingham and Ultimo 60.947%.
Canada’s Alberta/British Columbia bronze medal team on 198.105 comprised: Hannah Beaulieu, 19, Maple Ridge, British Columbia and Cortison 68.368%; Rakeya Moussa, 18, Edmonton, Alberta and Merlin Nemorensis 68.395% and Elexis Ortlieb, 18, of Leduc County, Alberta and Diego 61.342%.
The Junior championship team title went to Ontario with Region 7 of Southern California taking silver and Region 9 of three Texans and a Californian took bronze.
The Ontario team total of 200.92 came from: Alexandra Meghji, 17, Toronto and Iliado II 67.730%; Vanessa Creech-Terauds, 15, Caistor Centre and Denzel BC 67.514%; Yanina Woywitka, 15, Merrickville and Rheirattack 65.676% and Georgia Wade, 16, Fonthill and Beaumont 64.00%.
The Region 7 silver medal squad racked up 198.163 and consisted of all Californians: Veronica West, 15, Marina del Ray, and Nobleman 68.676%; Shelby Rocereto, 17, Livermore and Chapeau 64.973%; Brianna Relucio, 16, San Ramon and Wynsum 64.514%, and Mia Slaughter, 16, Norco and Harrington L 60.514%
The Region 9 team total of 197.379 for bronze came from: Chloe Taylor, 17, Los Angeles and Calecto V 68.162%; Madison Lacy, 14, Waco, Texas and Flintstone 64.649%; Bronwyn Cordiak, 17, Argyle, Texas and Dschingis Blue 64.568% and Allison Hopkins, 17, Dallas and Windsor 61.514%.
