LEXINGTON, Kentucky, July 3, 2015–Endel Ots will compete the five-year-old Lucky Strike and the six-year-old Samhitas in the World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany next month, the U.S. Equestrian Federation confirmed Friday.
Lucky Strike (Lord Laurie x His Highness) is a 2010 Hanoverian gelding owned by Endel of Wellington, Florida and his father, Max Ots.
Samhitas (Sir Donnerhall I x Abanos) is a 2009 Oldenburg gelding owned by Canadians Jean and Gary Vander Ploeg and Endel.
Endel, 29, will be competing in Europe for the first time and only the second American to compete horses in the two championship divisions in the same year, the first being the Germany-based Californian Jennifer Hoffman in 2011.
Lucky Strike scored 81.400 in the two competitons required to qualify for Verden while Samhitas had qualifying scores of 80.800 and 85.600.
Endel will receive financial support for the trans-Atlantic travel from donations made to USEF International High Performance Programs.
