Great Britain’s Olympic team gold medalist Laura Tomlinson has bought Capri Sonne, an eight-year-old Dutch stallion that is regarded as a future top horse, the Dutch equestrian media outlet Hoefslag reported Wednesday.
Capri Sonne (Rhodium x Sanremo) was the “dream horse” for Dinja and logged many victories in national levels below the small tour. The most recent achievement was the Dutch small tour indoor title just six weeks ago and sparked widespread interest around the world, Hoefslag reported
Laura Tomlinson is best known for riding Mistral Hojris in medal-winning performances at Olympics, World Games and European Championships. She competed for the first time at Florida’s Adequan Global Dressage Festival this winter with Unique, an 11-year-old Holsteiner mare.
The combination of Capri Sonne and Laura will continue training under the joint guidance of her father, Wilfrid Bechtolsheimer and German Olympic gold medalist Klaus Balkenhol.
Howefslag said the Bechtolsheimer family will focus on sport and the stallion will no longer be used for breeding.
Capri Sonne was approved by the KWPN at the end of 2014. He stood at stud by Van Olst Horses.
