STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 23, 2014–Bella Rose was ridden by Isabell Werth to a personal best score of 81.941 per cent to capture the German Masters CDI4* Grand Prix Special Sunday.
The 10-year-old Westfalen chestnut mare that Isabell has been riding since a youngster and began Grand Prix only 18 months ago mesmerized the crowd with gaits that earned the pair seven marks of 10.
The result was more than five percentage points ahead of their world championship team mates Kristina Sprehe on Desperados FRH with 76.608 per cent for second place. Jenny Lang, also of Germany, and Loverboy placed third on 74.216 per cent.
The score for what is now Germany’s top active combination with the breakup of Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill and the absence with injury of Totilas and Matthias Alexander Rath surpassed their previous best Grand Prix Special result of 81.647 per cent at Perl-Borg, Germany in June.
It was also the fourth victory in 10 starts this year. The duo was runnerup to world No. 1 Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro in the Nations Cup Grand Prix at the World Games in Normandy in August.
Four of the five judges awarded Isabell and Bella Rose scores above 80 per cent with 84.417 per cent the highest from Germany’s Dietrich Plewa and the lowest 79.804 from Thomas Lang of Austria.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling riding her – I even get goose bumps,” Isabell said after the ride.
“Bella Rose gave me an unbelievably nice feeling. I enjoyed the test so much that I almost forgot to concentrate.”
