LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Nov. 21, 2014–Alan Davies, international groom for Great Britain’s Olympic gold medal winners Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin, has been nominated for an International Equestrian Federation (FEI) award for 2014.

Grooming since he left school, Alan has worked for riders including former American jumper rider Michael Matz and British dressage rider Emile Faurie before joining Carl in 2011. Known for his immaculate turnout skills, Alan ensures his equine charges that include Valegro are happy, calm and in peak condition wherever they are in the world.

Sofie Lexner, a successful dressage rider on the Swedish team, was nominated for the Against All Odds award.

Sofie suffered a bad fall from one of her young horses in August 2013. Sustaining injuries to three of the vertebrae in her neck alongside back injuries, Sofie was initially paralyzed and suffered seizures after the accident. In time, Sofie regained movement and was required to wear a support collar for three months with no riding recommended for eight months. However, Sofie was back in the saddle seven months after the accident to place sixth in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Grand Prix at Gothenburg, with a fifth place finish in the Freestyle.
