SYDNEY, June 30, 2014–Kristy Oatley, a three-time Olympian seeking to make her third World Equestrian Games team, has been added to Australia’s Elite Squad with Ronan 2 one of two horses she will compete this week at the nation’s first of two European trials to select a team for the world championships at Normandy, France in two months.
Kristy, aged 35, and based in Germany, is taking Ronan 2, 14-year-old Oldenburg stallion (Riccione x Contender), and Louisa 34, 11-year-old Hanoverian mare (Londonderry x Lemon Park), to the trials at the CDI4* in Fritzens-Schindlhof in Austria.
Kristy was on Australian teams at the Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic teams as well as the WEGs in Rome in 1998 and Aachen, Germany in 2006.
In addition to Kristy and her two horses, the other Australian combinations named as contenders are Hayley Beresford, 35, based in Germany and Jaybee Alabaster, Briana Burgess, 26, based in Germany and La Scala III, Mary Hanna, 59, based in Australia and Sancette, Lyndal Oatley, 33, based in Germany and Sandro Boy, and Maree Tomkinson, 45, based in Australia and Diamantina 4.
