PERL-BORG, Germany, June 26, 2014–Kathleen Raine and Breanna set a personal best score to make the top placings in the CDI4* Grand Prix Thursday at this German team observation event that attracted the country’s top horses and riders.

Kathleen of Murieta, California, among the top tier of American Big Tour riders, piloted the 14-year-old Hanoverian mare to a score of 70.620 per cent that placed the pair fifth behind four German combinations. Isabell Werth and Don Johnson FRH won the opening competition and observation event for Germany weighing pospects for their team at the World Equestrian Games in two months.

The pair’s previous highest Grand Prix score was 70.404 per cent logged at Hickstead, England last August when they were on the U.S. silver medal Nations Cup team.

“I am so pleased with her maturity this year,”Kathleen told dressage-news.com.

“She’s really consistent and staying with me. I can really trust her now.”

Kathleen is competing Breanna in Europe on a $25,000 Carol Lavell award through The Dressage Foundation. Her tentative schedule after this event is the CDI3*in Verden, Germany in early August.

She first began CDI Grand Prix with the mare in March, 2011 a year after competing at small tour.

Kathleen and Breanna finished ninth at the U.S. Championships two weeks ago, missing out by one place on being included in the group of eight combinations named to be in Europe to battle for four places and a reserve on the American WEG team. The national championships were not a CDI.
