PERL-BORG, Germany, June 26, 2014–Olympic star Isabell Werth and Don Johnson FRH won the Grand Prix for the Freestyle Thursday, the opening competition of this observation event for Germany weighing pospects for their team at the World Equestrian Games in two months.

All top German combinations except for world No. 2 Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill NRW are competing here this week, among them Totilas ridden by Matthias Alexander Rath.

Isabell and the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 77.320 per cent while Dorothee Schneider and Silvano placed second on 71.480 per cent with Fabienne Lütkemeier on Qui Vincit Dynamis third on 71.400 per cent and Thomas Wagner and Very Keen fourth on 70.820 per cent.

The USA’s Kathleen Raine and Breanne, competing for the first time since narrowly missing on being included on the American WEG long list placed fifth on 70.620 per cent. The result for Kathleen of Murietta, California and the 14-year-old Hanoverian mare was a Grand Prix personal best in more than three years at Big Tour.
