ARNHEM, Netherlands, June 8, 2014–Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival N.O.P. completed their successful return to competition when the pair won the Grand Prix Freestyle at Outdoor Gelderland CD3* Sunday, a day after claiming the Grand Prix in the first show for the pair in nine months.
Adelinde and the 17-year-old KWPN gelding (Jazz x Ulft) scored 81.000 per cent with Hans Peter Minderhoud and Glock’s Flirt second on 78.425 per cent and Edward Gal and Glock’s Voice, 12-year-old KWPN stallion also competing for the first time this year, third on 76.575 per cent.
Adelinde won the Grand Prix Saturday with Edward and Voice second and Hans Peter and Flirt third.
This competition was the start of the campaign by Adelinde and Parzival for a place on the Netherlands’ team for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France in 11 weeks.
It is the eighth year of Grand Prix competition for Adelinde and Parzival. In that time, the pair have won team and individual Olympic medals, multiple medals at three European Championships, two World Cup titles and perhaps equally known for being eliminated from the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010 when the horse showed blood in the mouth when he bit his tongue. The pair were awarded a team gold medal.
