ROOSENDAAL, Netherlands, May 9, 2014–Patrik van der Meer and Zippo won the Den Goubergh CDI3* Grand Prix Friday, a year since the horse now 10 years old began his international Grand Prix career with the Netherlands rider at this same event.

Patrick and the KWPN gelding (Rousseau x Haarlem) scored 69.280 per cent for the first win of the year and their second Grand Prix victory in 18 starts.

Denmark’s Anders Dahl on the championship veteran Wie Arlantico de Ymas placed second on 69.060 per cent with the Dutch combination of Maries van Baalen and Miciano third on 68.620 per cent.

Wie Atlantico was initially competed by Spain’s Juan Matute and was on the Spanish team at the 2007 European Championships, then Great Britain’s Fiona Bigwood rode the Hanoverian gelding from 2009 to 2011 including on Britain’s team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. Carl Hester competed the horse for a few months in 2012 including in Florida before Anders, the partner of Fiona and based in England, began competing Wie Atlantico last year.
