BURBANK, California, Feb. 23, 2014–Steffen Peters on Legolas picked up the second victory in two days in the California Dreaming Productions World Cup Grand Prix Special Saturday while Günter Seidel on Coral Reef Wylea marked the first anniversary of their CDI career with a personal best result.
Steffen of San Diego, California and the 12-year-old Westfalen gelding scored 75.255 per cent for the win following Friday’s Grand Prix victry.
“For a long time the flying changes were very difficult for him,” Steffen said, “but he’s come so far and now did two tests in a row this weekend without making any mistakes.
“That’s huge and hasn’t happened before. He feels more confident about it, I feel more confident about it, and because of that we both feel more comfortable. That’s what it’s all about–going on to the next show with an increasingly confident feeling.”
Günter of Cardiff, California and the 14-year-old Westfalen mare placed second with a score of 72.784 per cent that surpassed their previous high in the Special of 71.812 per cent at Lingen, Germany last year.
Günter logged his first CDI on Coral Reef Wylea exactly a year ago at this same Mid-Winter Dressage Festival.
