BONEO, Australia, Jan. 25, 2014–Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle on Saturday added victory in the Grand Prix Special to their Grand Prix win at the Boneo Park CDI3* that confirmed the pair as the highest placing Australian combination to be long listed for the World Equestrian Games team.
Rozzie and the 17-year-old Autralian-bred gelding scored 68.157 per cent to finish ahead of London 2012 Olympic combination of Mary Hanna and Sancette on 68.118 per cent with Sue Hearn and Remmington in third on 64.725 per cent.
The Grand Prix result for Rozzie and Bullwinkle clinched the top spot for Australian-based riders on the long list of eight combinations to compete in head-to-head events in Europe for the team for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France at the end of August. The other seven combinations will be decided over the next few months.
However, Rozzie has not yet confirmed whether she will take up the offer for the horse that began his international compettion career as an eventer ridden in 2006ridden by Olivia Bunn, and moved to dressage with Rozzie as the rider in 2011.
In 2012, the pair competed in the two Olympic team selection trials in Europe as well as at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany.
A sellout crowd of 230 guests attended a fund raiser held in conjunction with the CDI3*, the first in a series of initiatives to raise money for Australian-based combinations selected for WEG.
