DRACHTEN, Netherlands, Jan. 5, 2014–Interfloor Next One that Edward Gal said “felt like a king” posted the highest Grand Prix Freestyle score in more than three years to win the ICNN Drachten on Sunday just two days after the 19-year-old gelding achieved his highest ever score in the Grand Prix.
Edward and the KWPN gelding (Jazz x Le Mexico) scored 79.325 per cent that was their second highest personal score, the top being 81.000 per cent at Oslo in October, 2010.
Dutch stable mate Johnson ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud placed second on 75.425 per cent with Diederik von Silfout on Vorst D in third on 72.275 per cent.
Next One was the star of the first CDI in the world for 2014.
“As long as he feels and behaves this way there is no reason not to train or not to compete,” Edward said. “He will tell me when it’s over, which is not yet!
“He feels like the king, being the only horse I ride here and gets all the attention from me and my groom, Vanessa.”
Next One is the third Grand Prix in Edward’s lineup after Glock’s Undercover and Glock’s Voice. And at the horse’s peak in 2010 he was overshadowed by the superstar Totilas.
