Lars Petersen and Melissa Taylor, personal and business partners for the past several years, were married on Christmas Eve near Telluride Mountain Village, Colorado.

In the presence of some family members and close friends, the Danish Olympian and his American Grand Prix rider partner were married while taking a break from their training and horse sales business.

Lars. aged 48, and Melissa, 43, have been highly successful competing on the East Coast of the United States and operating their year-round training and sales business out of their Legacy Farm in Loxahatchee that neighbors Wellington, Florida.

In more than 10 years repesenting Denmark, Lars competed at the Olympic Games, three World Equestrian Games, two World Cup Finals and three European Championships. He was Danish National Champion five times. With Blue Hors Cavan, he was ranked as high as No. 2 in the world.

He moved to the United States for the second time in 2002.

Lars has won some of the top shows in America, including the CDI5* at the Global Dressage Festival in 2013 and the Palm Beach Dressage Derby aboard Marcia Pepper’s Danish mare, Mariett that he also rode on the Danish team at the Nations Cup in Rotterdam earlier this year. He has declared himself as a prospect for the World Cup Final in 2014 and has indicated plans to compete for a place on the Danish WEG team in Normandy.

Melissa, who grew up in Pennsylvania, has been successful with several Grand Prix horses at the most prestigious competitions.
