LEXINGTON, Kentucky, Nov. 25, 2013–Plans for the 2014 U.S. Developing Dressage Program seeking to identify talented combinations with potential for future team and international success were announced Monday with seven CDIs in Florida and California named as observation competitions over the winter.

Debbie McDonald returns as USEF Developing Coach in the program made possible by a gift from Akiko Yamazaki and Red Husky Foundation through the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation.

The program will focus on observing combinations at specified competitions. Selected combinations who have submitted an application will be named to take part in mandatory outings, such as training sessions with Debbie.

The goal is to provide funding for selected developing combinations to use toward European training and competition experience.

Observation competitions include:

Jan. 22-26–Wellington Classic CDI-W/CDI1*/U-25, Wellington, Florida
Feb. 19-21–Wellington CDIO3*/CDI3*/CDI1*/U-25, Wellington
Feb. 20-23–Mid-Winter Dressage Fair CDI-W Burbank, California
Feb. 26-Mar. 2–Palm Beach Derby CDI-W/U-25, Wellington
Mar. 21-24-Capistrano Dressage Classic CDI-W, San Juan Capistrano, California
Mar. 26-30–Global Dressage Festival CDI5*/CDI3*/CDI1*/U-25, Wellington
April 3-6–Golden State CDI3*/U-25 Rancho Murieta, California

Competitions in 2013 that were included in the 2014 lineup were NEDA Fall Festival CDI-W at Saugerties, New York Sept. 18-21 and the Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp at Lexington Oct. 8-12.

Competitors will be observed in:
CDI Classes–Prix St. Georges, Intermediaire I and U-25 Young Adult Grand Prix, and
National Classes–Developing Horse Prix St. Georges, Grand Prix and USEF “Brentina Cup.”
