LYON, France, Oct. 31–The Dutch Olympic combination of Patrick van der Meer and Uzzo claimed their first victory in more than a year in winning the Equitá CDI4* Grand Prix Thursday.

Patrick and the 12-year-old KWPN gelding (Lancet x Indoctro) that have competed at international Grand Prix for two years including last summer’s London Olympics scored 73.085 per cent in their first competition since riding on the Netherlands’ Nations Cup team at Rotterdam in June.

The victory came on their 40th start at Grand Prix and was the fourth win in the career for the pair. They first won in Saumur, France in September, 2011, and captured both the Grand Prix and the Special in the Rotterdam CDI3* in 2012.

Italy’s top combination of Valentina Truppa and Fixdesign Eremo del Castegna took second place on 72.277 per cent with France’s Marc Boblet and Noble Dream Concept Sol in the third spot on 70.681 per cent.

This Equitá Lyon event has been a Western European League World Cup qualifier in recent years but not on this winter’s circuit as it will host the World Cup Final of dressage and jumping next April.
