VIENNA, Austria, Sept. 22–Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival won the Vienna Masters CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, against a backdrop of majestic historic buildings in the heart of the city.

Adelinde of the Netherlands and the 16-year-old KWPN gelding (Jazz x Ulft) scored 85.300 per cent to collect the €15,000 (US$20,000) first place prize money, but the event was marred by footing in the competition arena that did not stand up to heavy rain.

Germany’s Isabell Werth and El Santo NRW placed second on 78.500 per cent.

Victoria Max-Theurer, the hometown favorite, posted a personal best of 78.025 per cent on Eichendorff, the 15-year-old Westfalen stallion that she has competed at Grand Prix for six years and she rode for her 11th straight Austrian championship title a week ago.

The starting lineup had been reduced to eight combinations for Sunday’s Freestyle, a part of the Global Champions Tour of jumping.
