FRITZENS, Austria, June 26–Carl Hester and Uthopia were awarded their first score above 80 per cent to lead a British sweep of the Grand Prix Special at the Manfred Swarovski Memorial Tournament CDI4* Sunday.
Carl and his 10-year-old KWPN stallion by Metall scored 80.958 per cent with all five judges awarding above 80 per cent for the pair that was competing in only their fourth show since Uthopia began his international Grand Prix career 16 months ago.
Charlotte Dujardsin on Valegro–she is Carl’s student and with Roly Luard he owns the nine-year-old KWPN gelding by Negro–was second on 76.292 per cent, also a personal best at the Special though their score of 77.979 per cent in the Grand Prix here on Friday was the highest in the four shows they have competed in since their first Grand Prix competition just three months ago.
Fellow Briton Emile Faurie on Elmegardens Marquis was third on 73.479 per cent.
