The annual World Equestrian Festival CHIO in Aachen, Germany is celebrated as the premier horse event anywhere on the globe with the opening ceremony this year spotlighting European royaty and Old World pageantry.

Events in most of the world present their best face to attract the world’s top riders and horses and the spectators and sponsors as vital lifeblood of the sport.

Aachen, with about a quarter million people in an historic center, does it spectacularly.
