VEJER DE LA FRONTERA, Spain, Feb. 10–The Spanish Olympic team partnership of Daniel Martin Dockx and Grandioso on Sunday completed a sweep of two weeks of Grand Prix competition at Sunshine Tour CDI3 events with a succession of personal best scores including the finale Grand Prix Freestyle.
Daniel and Grandioso, a 14-year-old PRE stallion (Adelante x Grandiosa x Sevillano IX) owned by Hampton Green Farm of Wellington, Florida, scored 75.200 per cent in Sunday’s Freestyle, eclipsing their result of 74.825 per cent from the previous week that was a personal best then.
Their winning score in this weekend’s Grand Prix was also a personal best, 71.362 per cent.
The victories in both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle in the second of two weeks of dressage on the Sunshine Tour matched their success of the first week.
Great Britain’s Anna Ross Davies and Pegasus MK also enjoyed a successful circuit, placing second on 72.300 per cent in Sunday’s Freestyle for a personal best and the same placing in the Grand Prix with a score of 69.468 per cent. Anna competed the KWPN gelding in their first CDI together at this same event four years ago. The horse is now 16 years old.
Fellow Spaniard Eduardo Mellado Murga and Piconero IV was third in the Freestyle on 68.625 per cent while José Antonio Garcia Mena and Norte Lovera was third in the Grand Prix on 68.915 per cent.
Maria Moura Caetano of Portugal and Xiripiti won the Grand Prix Special with 68.667 per cent while Daniel and Encanto XI, also owned by Hampton Green Farm, were second on 67.021 per cent.
Daniel and Juan Manuel Munoz, the rider of the gray Fuego that was a star of the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, will be in Wellington for the PRE-Show party at the Global Dressage Festival grounds later this week.
