WERRIBEE, Australia, Dec. 8–Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle claimed the right to represent Australia at the World Cup Final in Sweden next April when they won the Pacific League Final Saturday night after a day of tempestuous weather.
Rozzie and the 16-year-old Australian-bred gelding (Rocadero x Springfield Action) scored 70.275 per cent in the Freestyle with Maree Tomkinson and Diamantina second on 68.700 per cent and David Shoobridge and 00 Seven third on 68.550 per cent.
Rozzie and Bullwinkle was the reserve combinaton for the Australian team at the summer Olympics in London after competing in the two Aussie selection trials in Europe and on the team at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany. Before last summer, Bullwinkle’s entire Grand Prix career that will move into its eighth year at the World Cup Final in Gothenburg in April had been in Australia.
Australia has a shot at receiving invitations for two horses and riders in the Final of the only annual global championship in dressage.
Lyndal Oatley, based in Germany, is seeking to qualify through the intensely competitive Western European League.
Lyndal and Sandro Boy, on whom she was the top scoring Aussie at the Olympics, are ranked 14th in the WEL with points from a single World Cup qualifier.
She is entered to compete at London Olympia in mid-December, which will be the fifth of eight WEL qualifiers.
