SYDNEY, Sept. 25–Talent identification days to search for future winning dressage combinations begin next month to place potential champions on the 2013 National Futures squad as a pathway to international high performance competition.
The Equestrian Australia national talent ID series and Futures Squads supported by Horsezone.com.au begins in Queensland. Dressage riders with a horse aged between three and eight years may be eligible to attend the talent identification day, details of which are available on the web site http://www.equestrian.org.au.
The Futures Squad provides both horse and rider with an entry point into the High Performance Program which opens the door to a wide range of support services such as access to national clinics, veterinary, sports science and sports medicine support.
“The National Futures Squads are a vital part of the National Pathways program as they provide riders with access to many High Performance support services and staff including the National Performance Director and National Selectors,” said High Performance Manager Brett Mace.
The 2013 Futures Squad is chosen by each discipline’s National Performance Director and National Selectors based on a set of criteria which aims to predict future success at elite levels of competition.
