Isabell & Don Johnson Break 80% for 1st Time to Win Vienna CDI4* Kür

VIENNA, Austria, Sept. 22–Isabell Werth and Don Johnson swept the Vienna Masters CDI4* with a victory in the Grand Prix Freestyle on a score that broke 80 per cent for the first time for the pair that have competed at internatioal Grand Prix level for 18 months.

The German rider and the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Don Frederico x Werona x Warkant) scored 81.950 per cent, with all five judges awarding the pair marks above 80 per cent.

The freestyle result bettered their previous best of 79.425 per cent posted at Stuttgart, Germany last November.

This was only the third show this year for Isabell and Don Johnson who won the Grand Prix Friday with a score of 74.234 per cent. Isabell was not on Germany’s Olympic team for only the second time in 20 years.

Austria’s Renate Voglsang and her London Olympic mount, Fabriano, also posted a personal best, 75.325 per cent to take second place while fellow Austrian Olympian Victoria Max-Theurer on Eichendorff, her backup Grand Prix mount, were third on 74.925 per cent.

In Friday’s Grand Prix, Vici and Eichendorff were second on 72.447 per cent while Renate and Fabriano were third on 72.064 per cent.
