STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 19–Ulla Salzgeber and Herzruf’s Erbe posted their fifth straight victory since returning to competition after a summer break to win the qualifying Grand Prix for the freestyle at the Stuttgart German Masters CDI5* Friday.
The German Olympic gold medalist and the 12-year-old Rhinelander gelding (Herzruf x Charisma x Caletto I) scored 77.979 per cent with fellow German Isabell Werth on Don Johnson second on 74.723 per cent and Italy’s Valentina Truppa and Eremo del Castegna third on 73.319 per cent.
After four top competitions including the World Cup Final at the beginning of this year, Ulla announced the pair were taking a break from competition over summer. She sold her mare, Wakana, to a Colombian rider to compete at the Pan American Games in Mexico.
Since returning to top level competition in September she has ridden five times at three shows–Donaueschingen, Lyon and now Stuttgart–notching five victories.
