SYDNEY, Nov. 10–Louisa Hill, who led New Zealand to book their first ever team appearance at an Olympic Games, rode her Bates Antonella to victory in the Equitana World Cup qualifying Grand Prix Friday.
Louisa and the 10-year-old Hanverian gelding (Anamour x Flair x Winnebago) scored 68.468 per cent with veteran Australian Heath Ryan and Regardez Moi second on 66.319 oer cent and Chantal Wigan and Ferero, who rode on the Australian team that was the top qualifier of the three teams vying for London, in third place on 65.553 per cent.
The New Zealand team that had come to Sydney for the Olympic team qualifying stayed on to compete at Equitana, the only event in Australia that has brought together elite athletes from the Olympic disciplines of dressage, jumping and eventing as they battle for an attractive prize pool.
A two-part Australian team competing in Sydney and Ermelo, The Netherlands, finished first of three teams competing for two places in Lond with New Zealand capturing the other spot.
