TORONTO, Nov. 9–Ashley Holzer rode Breaking Dawn to victory in the Grand Prix at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Wednesday night in the first Grand Prix competition for the 10-year-old KWPN gelding.

The Canadian Olympian who lives in New York and Breaking Dawn, formerly known as Ultiems Flemming (Akribori x Evelibe x L.Ronald) and co-owned by Ashley and P.J. Rizvi, scored 69.319 per cent.

Victoria Winter and Proton, a 17-year-old Baden-Wurttemburger gelding, was second on 65.809 per cent with Gary Vander Ploeg and Degas, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding, in third on 65.426 per cent.

“It was Breaking Dawn’s first really big competition,” Ashley said. “This horse just never disappoints. He is a class act, and he always goes in the ring and tries his best.”

She showed the horse small tour for the first time last winter in Florida.
