Rohdiamant, the great Oldenburg breeding stallion competed successfully by Lisa Wilcox of the United States, has been euthanized following surgery after injuring himself in a paddock, Tanja Becker reported in PferdeSportZeitung.de. Rohdiamant was born in 1990.
Rohdiamant, by Rubinstein, was discovered by Gudula Vorwerk-Happ who owned and operated Gestüt Vorwerk, one of the oldest and most famous breeding farms in Germany. The farm was sold in 2009.
Career highlights for Rohdiamant included two-time national champion, main premium winner and Grand Prix winner ridden by Lisa Wilcox, who now is based in Wellington, Florida.
He produced more than 50 licensed sons.
Among his offspring actively competing are Blue Hors Romanov ridden by Sune Hansen of Denmark, Responsible OLD ridden by Helen Langehanenberg of Germany and Eremo del Castegno ridden by Valentina Truppa of Italy. He was also the sire of the dam for Augustin OLD, the top horse for Austria’s Victoria Max-Theurer whose mother, Sissy, now owns Vorwerk.
