COMPIÈGNE, France, June 5–Great Britain’s Gareth Hughes on Classic Sandman won the Compiègne CDI3* Grand Prix and the Special while Amy Stovold on Macbrian was second in both classes.
Forty combination started the Grand Prix and Gareth, who grew up in Outback Australia riding broncs, and the 12-year-old KWPN gelding, scoring 71.149 per cent with Amy Stovold and Macbrian second on 69.596 per cent. Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on Faberge was third on 67.681 per cent.
In the Grand Prix Special, Gareth and Sandman scored 71.271 per cent and Amy and Macbrian were 70.021 per cent with Switzerland’s Daniel Ramseier on Ferra III in third with 68.125 per cent.
Australia’s Mary Hanna finished in the ribbons with two horses, finishing fifth on Sancette with 67.021 per cent and tied for sixth on Umbro with 66.851 per cent. In the Special she and Sancette placed seventh with 66.104 per cent and on Umbro she placed sixth in the Grand Prix Freestye on with 68.750 per cent.
