LIPICA, Slovenia, May 27–Michael Rapzewicz and Randon, in only the third competition of the year, on Friday won the Grand Prix for the Freestyle at this World Cup qualifying event.
Michal and the 14-year-old gelding who have competed together at Grand Prix through the 2008 Olympics, the 2010 World Equestrian Games and three World Cup Finals, scored 71.426 per cent with Italy’s Valentina Truppa on Chablis second on 69.362 per cent and Hungarian Robert Acs with Weinzauber third on 67.468 per cent.
This was the fourth straight Grand Prix level win for Michal and Randon since the pair won the CDI5* Grand Prix Special at West Palm Beach in Florida in March.
Grand Prix for the Special was won by Valentina Truppa on Eremo del Castegno with a score of 69.809 per cent. Fellow Italian Susanna Bordone on Dark Surprise was second on 68.085 per cent and Germany’s Frank Freund with Don Dior was third on 65.787 per cent.
