ALLENTOWN, New Jersey, May 27–Canada’s Ashley Holzer won Grand Prix with her Olympic and World Games mount Pop Art and also claimed the Prix St. Georges with Ultiems Flemming on Friday at the ESDCTA Memorial Day Weekend CDI3*.

Ashley, who lives in nearby New York City, and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 69.404 per cent in the Grand Prix, only the second competition of the year for the pair. They competed in the CDI5* in West Palm Beach, Florida, in March.

Lauren Sammis, of West Orange, New Jersey, was second on Sagacious HF scoring 67.851 per cent with Melissa Taylor of Wellington, Florida, on Schumacker Solyst third on 64.574 per cent.

Lauren and the 12-year-old black gelding owned by Hyperion Farm on which she won team gold and individual silver at the 2007 Pan American Games, were competing in their first international event in a year.

Ashley and Ultiems Flemming, a 10-year-old KWPN gelding, topped a field of 25 starters with a score of 71.404 per cent with Cesar Parra of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, on Grandioso second on 70.395 per cent and Christopher Hickey of Colora, Maryland, and Witness Hilltop third on 68.640 per cent.

Small tour is especially significant in this Pan American Games year which is at Prix St. Georges/Intermediaire I as it is the team qualifier for the 2012 London Olympics.

The top two finishing teams at the Pan Ams in Guadalajara, Mexico, in October qualify for London. The U.S. qualified at last year’s World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
